Nick Kourtesis

Owner

Nick is the founder and owner of Mid-Atlantic Sports Consultants (M-ASC) and is actively involved in our athletes' recruitment process.  He and his staff personally execute a plan of action with every M-ASC athlete.  Prior to founding M-ASC,  Nick practiced law in Maryland and D.C. for 15 years.   He has also been involved with players in the minor league and major league baseball system.  Nick also competed on the collegiate and professional level, and understands all of the factors that go into the recruiting process.

SAM ERMAN

Coach Sam Erman joins MASC after coming from the Cleveland Browns, where he spent time working with skilled position players.

Prior to that, he was an All-American running backs coach at the University of Finland. He graduated from the University of Finland and is an alum of the University of Ohio. 

Coach Erman has tremendous experience and knowledge of the game of football, and we at MASC are extremely thrilled to have him working alongside of us moving forward.

MICK O'BRIEN - INTERN

Mick is an intern helping with the soccer and football side of things here at MASC. He played four years of highschool baseball at St. Vincent Pallotti, and played two years of college baseball at Salisbury and West Virginia University. He recently graduated from Salisbury University with a degree in strategic communication and a minor in athletic coaching. He aspires to work in sports communication full time after interning at MASC. With his minor degree being in athletic coaching, he hopes to work his way up through college in order to coach at a division one school as a pitching coach in the future. He also has great experience with recruiting and the many questions and difficulties it comes with. He currently is working on getting some of our athletes onto the next level at colleges that fit them well, and is very excited to be working with MASC for the summer internship.

Clare Handy

Administrative Intern

Sport(s): Softball, Women's Tennis

Clare Handy is the Head of the Softball Department and Girls Tennis Department here at M-ASC. She is a Sport Studies student at the University of New Hampshire and the head softball coach at Christendom College in Virginia where she played soccer before transferring to UNH. Clare is also the former manager of the UNH Wrestling Team and a member of the University of New Hampshire's athletic department production team, where she did film work for ESPN3. Clare has also coached 6th-8th grade softball and has a substantial amount of experience working with students and athletes of all ages. 

 


Benjamin Spanbock

Sports Management Intern

Sport(s): Baseball, Football, Soccer

 

Ben Spanbock will be a Sports Management intern here at M-ASC. A New York City native, he began playing baseball from a very young age, spending school years in various spring leagues around the city and summers working with Joe Espinosa Baseball. After enrolling at Avon Old Farms School in Connecticut, he became a two-sport athlete in baseball and football, and was voted as captain in each for one year. He is currently a senior Communications major at Emerson College in Boston, with a focus on Sports Communication and Management. Coming to M-ASC by way of The Washington Center, he will be graduating in December, 2018.

Tanya Cimenian

Communications & Administrative Intern

Sport(s): Women's Basketball, Women's Soccer, Rowing

Tanya is our new Communications and Administrative intern at M-ASC, and is participating in an internship program through the Washington Center. She is a New England native, and is currently a junior at Emerson College in Boston, MA; where she is majoring in Communications. She has been practicing martial arts for the past 12 years, and earned her black belt in kempo karate in March of 2017. She also played Australian rules football for the Boston Demons while in college, and played soccer in the beginning of her high school career. We are excited to have her at M-ASC this semester!

Ivan Torres

Contributing Journalist

Ivan is double majoring in media writing and sports management at Florida State University. Ivan also held a leadership position for two straight semester. He has conducted pre and post-game interviews of athletes and coaches at athletic events. Along with preparing media guides and press releases for sport information directors. Ivan was a Sports Anchor on WFVS Tallahassee 89.7; where he reported once a week based on a personal written script. In, addition he also supplied updates of Florida State athletic events.

Jonathan Parker

Consultant

Sport(s): Swimming

Jonathan Parker is the new swim consultant here at M-ASC.  He swam one year on the varsity team at Wingate University, where he was apart of the 2011 Blue Grass Mountain Conference Champion men's team.  He then transferred to James Madison University.  He majored in Sports and Recreation Management at James Madison and swam on the club swim team for four years.  He then earned his masters in Sports Leadership from Concordia University Chicago. 

He is also an ASCA Level 1 certified coach for the Advanced Pre-Senior group at the Prince William Swim Club also known as the 'Amberjax.'  This group is primarily made up of 6th to 8th graders.  He also is a level 2 Masters Swim Coach and coaches at Onelife Fitness in Woodbridge, VA and at the Prince William Aquatic Center.  He understands the recruiting process and can relate with our athletes.

Nathaniel Minckler

Consultant

Sport(s): Baseball

 

Nathaniel is a baseball consultant here at M-ASC. He played three years of 19U baseball with the Ogdensburg Maples. Then he went on to play one year collegiate baseball at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Canton. Nathaniel was  also an assistant coach with the Ogdensburg Maples for three seasons. Nathaniel was also the head coach of the SUNY Canton Club baseball program for three years. His most memorable baseball moment was hitting an opposite field home run in my first High School baseball plate appearance with the Gouverneur Wildcats.

Robert Maffei 

Consultant

Sport(s): Soccer

Robert will be a soccer consultant here at M-ASC. He played four years of varsity soccer at McLean High School, winning two district championships as well as receiving two All-Metropolitan. Robert played two years for the U-18 D.C United Developmental Academy. Robert continued to play collegiate soccer at Manhattan College. After college he has continued to train alongside with former D.C. United GK Bill Hamid.

Justin Patton

Consultant

Sport(s): Football

 Justin is a Maryland native, where he attended Meade Senior High School in Anne Arundel County.  While at Meade he was member of two regional football championship teams. He was able to excel on the gridiron as a 1st team All Anne Arundel County linebacker, 1st team All Metro All-star linebacker and an All State honorable mention linebacker. His athletic abilities earned him an athletic scholarship to play football at Morgan State University. Justin became a two time All MEAC conference linebacker, and HBCU honorable mention All-American nominee. Soon after graduation and several NFL tryouts, Justin went into coaching at North County High where he was a defensive coordinator and linebacker coach for 10 years.
